Jemima Phillips The Prince of Wales’ former Harpist.

Jemima Philips
Despite her recent appearances in the news, Jemima is first and foremost a classical musician and we will be lucky enough to hear her perform as a soloist in the chapel and to experience at first hand why she was chosen to play for The Prince of Wales.
Donna McKevitt performing excerpts from Transluscence

Transluscence
Donna was offered the opportunity to set some of Derek Jarman’s poetry to music by Derek himself. The resulting piece of work, Transluscence, has been described as a haunting work of unpretentious honesty that deftly captures the essence of Jarmans words and images in an work combining influences of Anglican Chant, Late Romanticism and expressionism into coherent and moving whole. Translucence is described in its five Star review in Gramophone magazine as a secular stations of the Cross and was first performed in the City of London festival and had it’s New York Premier in the chapel at Columbia. To see elements of this work performed in The Chapel of St Barnabus in such intimate surroundings will undoubtedly be a unique experience.
Justine Armatage and Charlie Finke from The Cesarians

The Cesarians
Had rock and roll been born in 1930’s urban Europe, and not 1930’s rural America, it would have been like this; part Kurt Weil, part Jacques Brel, part Ernst Kirchner, part klezma. Looking like a band formed in the mind of George Grosz, The Cesarians capture the urban zeitgeist via the junk shop instruments of old Europe . In their hands, a clarinet, trombone, piano, and drums beaten in waltz time, make raw and raucous rock and roll. Over this beautiful chaos Charlie Finke preaches his own intense message. This evening Charlie and Justine will be performing as a duo and it will be fascinating to see how the intensity of their material and performance will translate in such a minimal setting and hallowed surroundings.
Tickets are just £15 and a large proportion of ticket revenue will go to charity.
